Michigan travel bucket list

I moved to Michigan almost one year ago, it's a beautiful state during the Spring/Summer with many places I wish to visit. Last year was all about getting settled in, hopefully this year I can start to check more of these places off of my list! Here is my Michigan bucket list for 2018
    1. Pictured Rocks National Lakes I keep seeing all these amazing pictures, with people kayaking through these cliffs & this is one of my top things I can't wait to try! Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore hugs the south shore of Lake Superior in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. It's known for the dramatic multicolored Pictured Rocks cliffs. Unusual sandstone formations like Miners Castle and Chapel Rock define the park’s headlands.

source     2.  Detroit's Eastern Market I love a good bargain! I have heard many stories of this place and how you can't see it all in one day, can't wait to see what hidden treasures I can find here. The market was transferred from city management in 2006, and now operates through a public-private partnership with the Eastern Market Corporation. Eastern Market is the largest historic public market district in the United States

    3.  Tunnel of Trees I had made a booking for a hotel last Fall, right smack in the center of this location. However, I was in-able to make it. I love Fall time, it's my favorite season and from what I hear, the tunnel of trees is the destination area for a tunnel of Fall colors! Northern Michigan’s Tunnel of Trees along M-119 is one of the area’s most iconic attractions. The magical, scenic road winds from Harbor Springs, (north of Petoskey) to Cross Village. The Tunnel of Trees, ranked among the most scenic roads in the nation, is especially breathtaking in spring when trilliums carpet the forest floor that borders the road, and in autumn when the hardwoods along it are aflame in fall color.

source   4. Mackinac Island Cute shops, private bike rides, no cars? On a island? Yes please!! Mackinac Island sits in Lake Huron, between Michigan’s Upper and Lower peninsulas. Mackinac Island State Park, with trails, woods and the limestone Arch Rock formation, covers most of the island

    5.  Detroit's Belle Isle Conservancy I come from a state that had the most beautiful Botanical Gardens, every year my son and would visit during every season and enjoy taking photos. We are 1 hour away from this destination and I can't wait to try it out!

Belle Isle Park is a 982-acre island park located in Detroit with historic, environmental, and cultural resources that have been beloved for generations. The park is home to the Belle Isle Aquarium,  Anna Scripps Whitcomb Conservatory, Dossin Great Lakes Museum, Belle Isle Nature Center,  the James Scott Memorial Fountain, and more!

source     6. Sleeping Bear Dunes My son & I love to camp and we do it every year, this would be a ideal destination. Miles of sand beach, bluffs that tower 450’ above Lake Michigan, lush forests, clear inland lakes, unique flora and fauna make up the natural world of Sleeping Bear Dunes. High dunes afford spectacular views across the lake. An island lighthouse, US Life-Saving Service stations, coastal villages, and picturesque farmsteads reflect the park’s rich maritime, agricultural, and recreational history

source     7.  Windmill Island Gardens windmills + tons of tulips, this seems like a fun day! Seasonal park featuring tulip gardens, a 250-year-old windmill, a carousel & Dutch-costumed guides.     8.  Headlands International Dark Sky Park We are Science people, my son loves everything about it. This place would be AMAZING! You can have a beautiful view of the stars and a chance to view the northern lights. They make predictions, when you can view the lights. 

  source     9.  Turnip Rock such a amazing sight to see,  Kayaking to this location is the only way to get to it! Turnip Rock is a small geological formation in Michigan.

source   10. Ste. Anne de Detroit Church I have a appreciation for these older beautifully built churches, they amaze me. They also make for beautiful photos. Ste. Anne de Détroit, founded July 26, 1701, is the second oldest continuously operating Roman Catholic parish in the United States
