Its been a good 5 years since the last time I went to a Renaissance Festival, Caleb went but was to young to remember. So we were over due. We went, was nice to get out of the house. Was a little cloudy that day, which was fine so no direct hot rays.
Caleb was a little under the weather that day, was hard to get him engaged. A little info update: my son was recently diagnosed with ADHD, something that I already knew. I struggle daily with hyper activity and other tendencys. It has been brought to my attention by several teachers in his school that he was overly hyper. So I decided to try some medications to help him out a little, lowest dosage on the market. The ones he's on shows amazing strides for Caleb, he's calmed down and is now focusing on whats in front of him{its amazing, I cried seeing the results} however it makes him really tired.
So, normally being at this kind of event {festival} I would have to hold on to his arm/hand to keep him from bolting and running off etc. Was not the case at all, he wasn't interested enough. BUT I think he enjoyed it, just didn't communicate it with me. I bought him a wooden sword and that was the first smile I got from him the whole day. We ate yummy turkey legs and had some chocolate ice cream {another smile}. It was over all a nice and peaceful day for us.
