Its time to start SAVING money and being smart about it, one of these ways is for me to create my own homemade laundry soap. My mothers immediate comment was "Oh your not going to like that", or "its going to leave a filmy residue". No other way to know without trying it right? Let me tell you, I LOVE what I made. I made it, I tried it and it prevailed. No residue/filmy stuff. It smells fantastic and pulled out those dirty spots on the bottom of socks. No itching the skin, my son and I have sensitive skin and this even passed the test! It was easy to make, a little time on the grating. It was cost effective and easy to find the ingredients.
Each load only takes 2 tablespoons of detergent, so this one batch will cover 288 loads of laundry. All together, the ingredients cost around $23, which equals about 8 cents per load.
I will never go back to regular detergent long as I'm needing to pinch those pennies and I'm needing to be frugal now more than ever with the big move coming up for Caleb and I. need:
4- 4oz. bars of grated Castile soap
1- 78 oz. box of Borax
8- 16 oz. boxes of baking soda
3 tblsp. lavender essential oil
We grated our soap using a cheese grater, Caleb loved to help on this part.
