Local Museums and Tours for Black History Month

February starts the beginning of Black history month, which is annually observed in the United States.  It's a celebration of achievements made by African American's, over the years. I wanted to come up with a list of Museums and places that you can go, to learn and educate yourselves on. I live in Michigan, so all these places are based there! I hope you will something that may interest you and inspire you to learn! It took bravery and risk, for many of these African Americans and it is simply inspiring.

1. The Henry Ford, has musical performances and activities such as: Experiment with history Green Book, History Outside the box, make something Saturdays and much more.

2. Detroit institute of Arts, will have workshops, story telling, poetry and art demonstrations. There will be art panels specific to Black History month. Entire month of February

3charles h wright museum of african american history, learning opportunities, exhibits and programs based on collections and history of African Americans. Tue.-Sat. 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Sun. 1-5 p.m

4. The Underground Railroad, Second Baptist ChurchThe history of Second Baptist touches on three centuries of service to the community and is equally, if not more, important than our participation to the Underground Railroad. Detroit Underground Historical Railroad Society offers three types of tours designed to fit the various time constraints of our visitors.

These were just a few in my findings in researching, there were many more interesting places and activities to do. I do encourage you to research some places of your own, specially if you are in another state! There should be literally something to do in any given US state to celebrate this month.
